The short version: Use ClearIngredient for what it was built for — learning about ingredients, scanning labels, and making informed food choices. Don't misuse it, abuse it, or try to exploit it. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate this policy.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") establishes the rules and standards for using ClearIngredient. It exists to protect the integrity of the application, ensure a fair experience for all users, and prevent misuse that could harm other users, third parties, or the application itself.
By using ClearIngredient, you agree to comply with this policy in addition to our Terms of Service and all other applicable policies. This AUP applies to all users regardless of subscription tier.
ClearIngredient is designed for personal, educational, and non-commercial use. The following uses are permitted:

ClearIngredient does not currently offer a public API. Any programmatic access to ClearIngredient data or functionality — including accessing our endpoints through unofficial means — is prohibited without express written authorization.

If you become aware of any misuse of ClearIngredient or a potential violation of this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to us at contact@clearingredient.app with the subject line "AUP Violation Report."
If you are a security researcher who has identified a vulnerability in ClearIngredient, we ask that you report it to us responsibly through the same email address with the subject line "Security Disclosure" before any public disclosure. We commit to:
"Good-faith" means you make a reasonable effort to avoid accessing or modifying user data and you give us reasonable time to fix issues before public disclosure (typically 90 days).
Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account without refund. In cases of serious violations — including unauthorized access attempts, data harvesting, or fraudulent activity — we reserve the right to pursue all available legal remedies.
ClearIngredient reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in connection with any investigation of illegal activity conducted through or in connection with the application.
We may modify, suspend, or terminate access to any feature of the application at any time for users who are found to be in violation of this policy, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation.
Per our Refund & Cancellation Policy, refunds are not provided for accounts terminated due to policy violations.
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the application, legal requirements, or best practices. When material changes are made, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of ClearIngredient after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
