The short version: ClearIngredient uses essential cookies to keep you signed in. Free-tier users also receive advertising cookies from Google AdSense. Premium subscribers see no advertising cookies at all. We never use marketing tracking pixels or social media trackers.
Section 01
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web application. They are widely used to make applications work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide basic functionality such as keeping you logged in between sessions.
Cookies can be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services that the website uses ("third-party cookies"). ClearIngredient uses both, depending on your subscription tier and the features you use.

Specific Cookies We Use
The following essential and functional cookies are used by ClearIngredient:
- sb-access-token: Set by Supabase to keep you securely signed in. Contains an encrypted authentication token and expires when you sign out or after a set period of inactivity. Essential.
- sb-refresh-token: Used to renew your authentication session without requiring you to sign in again. Stored securely and not accessible by third parties. Essential.
- Local preferences: Stores lightweight settings such as your selected history view mode and last-viewed filters. Stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a traditional cookie. Functional.
None of these contain personally identifiable information beyond what is necessary to maintain your session.
Section 04
Third-Party Cookies
ClearIngredient uses a limited number of third-party services that may set their own cookies:
- Supabase — Our authentication and database provider sets session cookies as described in Section 03. These are essential cookies and do not track behavior for advertising.
- Stripe — When you make a payment, Stripe sets cookies for fraud prevention and security verification. These cookies are essential for transaction processing. See Stripe's Cookie Policy.
- Google AdSense (free-tier users only) — Sets cookies to serve ads, prevent the same ad from showing repeatedly, and measure ad performance. AdSense may also personalize ads based on your interests across other Google services. See Google's Cookie Policy and Google Ad Settings.
We do not integrate Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, Hotjar, FullStory, or any other behavioral analytics or social marketing tracking technology.
Section 05
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, ClearIngredient uses your browser's local storage to save certain non-sensitive application state such as your history view preferences, last-viewed dictionary filters, and similar UI settings. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to any third party. You can clear local storage at any time through your browser settings.
Section 06
How to Opt Out or Manage Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
- Upgrade to Premium — Premium subscribers see no advertising cookies at all. This is the cleanest opt-out. Visit the upgrade page
- Google Ads Settings — Visit adssettings.google.com to disable personalized advertising across all Google services and partner sites
- Industry opt-out (US) — Visit aboutads.info/choices to opt out of behavioral advertising from participating networks
- Industry opt-out (EU) — Visit youronlinechoices.com for EU-wide opt-out
- Browser settings — All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies. Search your browser's help for "manage cookies"
- Browser-level Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control — We honor GPC signals from your browser where applicable
Please note that disabling essential cookies will prevent ClearIngredient from functioning correctly — you will not be able to remain signed in or use core features.
Section 07
Cookie Consent
Different jurisdictions have different rules about cookie consent:
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland: Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, we require your explicit consent before setting any non-essential cookies (including AdSense advertising cookies). When you visit ClearIngredient from these regions, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner allowing you to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
- California: Under CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals automatically.
- Other jurisdictions: Where local law does not require explicit consent, your continued use of ClearIngredient constitutes consent to our use of cookies as described in this policy.
Essential cookies (authentication, session management, payment security) are exempt from consent requirements as they are strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested.
Section 08
Children & Cookies
Per our Privacy Policy, ClearIngredient is not directed to children under 13. We instruct AdSense to disable personalized advertising for any user we have reason to believe is under 16, in compliance with Google's policies and applicable law.
Section 09
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we introduce any new categories of cookies (such as analytics), we will update this policy and provide appropriate notice and consent mechanisms before doing so.
